PHILOSOPHY OF THE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME

Le Bocage International School Mauritius (LBIS), through its program, places an emphasis on a holistic approach to education. It provides the students with the opportunity to reach their full potential as citizens of a changing world. It challenges and extends the individual by developing a spirit of discovery, self-reliance and responsibility.

In light of the above, the extra curricular activities programme seeks to support and reinforce the holistic and balanced education by:

  • Seeking to provide the students with the necessary framework to develop their talents by encouraging them to actively participate in a wide range of activities,
  • Helping the students to discover and/or enhance their creativity abilities,
  • Enabling the students to participate in a variety of sports,
  • Preparing the students to be community-spirited and
  • Fostering a healthy relationship between students and teachers away from a formal classroom situation.

We would welcome ideas/suggestions and help from the whole LBIS community (Parents, ex-students, administrative staff ...). Please email, further down the page, the extra curricular activities coordinators if you want to propose/supervise an activity.

The Signing up Process

Students sign up for an activity at the beginning of each term.  This usually takes place on the first activity lesson of the term.

On the day, students are given at least 40 minutes to choose an activity from a published list.

The activity supervisors wait for the students in their respective venues for the activity.  For activities that are run outside school, arrangement for a meeting place is made. The meeting place is stated on the activities list for the term.

Students who do not manage to register in any activity after the signing up session are instructed to meet the Activity Coordinators in the Reception Area. The Activity Coordinators then direct them to specific activities in which places are available.
