As the longest running programme from the IB, the Diploma Programme (DP) is not only a rigorous, highly valued and prestigious pre-university qualification, but it is a framework which balances academic and personal challenge, reflection and growth.
The beauty, and also the challenge, of the IB Diploma Programme is that the learning experience is shaped in so many ways by the initiatives you take. Let your passions and future aspirations guide you as you step outside your comfort zone, as you test out ideas and figure out solutions, especially when plans do not always work, as you share ideas, gain new perspectives and reach consensus while collaborating with others.
As a student of the Diploma Programme, you will develop specialist knowledge and understanding in your six chosen subjects while remaining curious about the bigger questions which are relevant to our world today. At the same time, you will critically question how and why we know what we do through the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), engage in continuous personal development while making a positive impact around you through Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and develop the rigorous practice and skills of academic research and writing through the Extended Essay (EE).
In a world with a fast-changing professional and educational landscape, the IB Diploma Programme’s emphasis on skills development, competencies development and application of concepts and ideas from subject classes to analyse and act upon real world contexts and situations has never been more pertinent.
As a member of Le Bocage, one of the moments I value the most is when our Form 6 or 7 students have the “light bulb” moment as they make discoveries from a failed attempt or as they develop a realisation of an alternative perspective. This captures the skills, attitudes and competencies they have developed and which they will use not just in their studies but also their personal and future professional life.

From my perspective as a Coordinator, I am pleased to share the profound value of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP. The MYP is not just an educational framework; it is a transformative journey that shapes students into compassionate, active learners who are prepared for the complexities of an evolving and modern world.
The MYP emphasizes holistic education, integrating academic rigor with personal and social growth. Students atLe Bocage engage with eight subject groups, including Humanities, Sciences, and Arts, fostering a well-rounded understanding of various disciplines. This broad curriculum encourages critical thinking and inquiry-based learning, and project-based experiences enabling students to connect their studies to real-world issues and challenges.
One of the cornerstones of the MYP is its commitment to intercultural awareness. By exploring diverse perspectives and cultures, students develop empathy and respect for others. International Mindedness is essential in today’s globalized world, where understanding different viewpoints is crucial for effective communication and collaboration.
The MYP also focuses on developing essential life skills through its Approaches to Learning (ATL). These skills include communication, research, self-management, and social skills. By nurturing these competencies, we prepare our students not just for academic success but for lifelong learning and responsible citizenship. They learn to approach challenges with resilience and creativity, becoming adaptable problem solvers.
